I have decided to post from the past and present, on alternating days so here is a post from the past...

1997- summer 1998...our first apartment was at mcalpine ridge, shown above.

we spent a lot of time at the pool. no one would be there so it was like our own personal resort. i will never forget the stairs as we lived on the third floor. not a fun climb, especially when moving in and out. we shared a car because we could as eric was at first union, uptown charlotte and i was at merry oaks, just a couple miles away. the ride to and from was so long due to the terrible traffic on independence. and then we moved into our first "house", the condo at elizabeth lofts...

it was an open loft...just over 1000 square feet. perfect for us. the location was great and the neighborhood of elizabeth is just a mile or two from uptown charlotte. chris and carrie lived on the same street in their first house together. it was nice to be able to walk to get chinese at cherry blossom two or breakfast at showmars. we were here for 3 years from the summer of 98 until october 2001.

the condo sold and our house was not done yet, so we moved into post gateway apartments.

they were amazing, probably one of the nicest complexes in the area. we were the last people to move in so they gave us all kinds of incentives...free washer/dryer, free storage, etc. but we know that they, the office staff, got some pretty good incentives themselves for having all the units rented out. lucky us! eric was able to take a trolley to work and i was less than .5 miles from irwin ave. open elementary.
