yet another day to blog: 5 albums from my past

i am ROCKIN in keeping up with my resolution to blog therefore...

today's topic: 5 Albums From My Past {Note the use of the word ALBUM, as in LP, vinyl, record}

I will start at the beginning: In first grade, I had the record "The Wall" by none other than Pink Floyd. I proudly took my little 33rpm record to Kim Kring's house for my first slumber party. We listened to it on her little record player all night, or at least until 10pm which is when we probably fell asleep seeing as how we were all of 6 years old. It was the only record we had that night.

Later in college I got third row tickets to see Pink Floyd which was pretty amazing because there was probably 100,000+ people there. I don't really care for Pink Floyd very much though. I think they are rather depressing.

#2 Thriller: He wasn't a complete wacko then. He was beyond cool and we (all the girls in my 6th grade class) were madly in love with him. I signed my name "Melanie Jackson". I saved up my babysitting money for weeks and I'm pretty sure that this was my first real album purchase.

#3 Abbey Road: Beatlemania hit hard around 8th grade. Paul was my favorite. I own all the Beatles albums, but I picked Abbey Road to share because it has some of my all time favorites.

#4 The Doors: Sophomore year of high school: I thought he was soooooooo hot. And I mean the young, thinner Jim Morrison, not the fat, drugged out Jim Morrison. I read his crazy 400 page biography. I listened all the songs as loud as I could for hours (and they really aren't all that great unless you are really into organ music). I have never seen the movie with Val Kilmer and don't plan to.

#5 Sophomore Year again: Bruce Springsteen, Huge Collection of All the Songs. This was like one of the best Christmas presents I have ever received. My dad picked this out, he must have been sick of The Doors! I wanted it but never imagined I would get it. I remember it being a really really big deal at the time. I had Born the U.S.A. but I was able to discover all of his songs.

And then they came out with CD's.
